The Silver Beaver Award is the highest recognition that a Council can bestow on an adult volunteer. Since its conception in 1931, the Sam Houston Area Council has presented the Silver Beaver Award to over 1500 deserved adult volunteers for their dedication and service to the Scouting Program.
This year's Silver Beaver Nominations are due to the Scout Office no later than June 1st at 4:30 P.M. (NOTE: The date on the form is Memorial Day, so the deadline is the next day) Anyone can nominate an individual that they feel exemplifies the goals of Scouting and demonstrates it through their support of the youth they serve. A Silver Beaver Selection Committee, consisting of pasdt Silver Beaver Award recipients will then evaluate the submitted nominations and select this year's honorees.
More about the award, list of past recipients, and this year's nomination form can be found on the Council's website at:
Silver Bear Award
When submitting a nomination, only the 2-page nomination form can be used, no other attachments are accepted. Because you are asked not to let the nominee know of the nomination, gathering the information to help support your nomination may involve talking with other Scouters, which may take some time. So if you have an individual in mind, don't delay, get started today!
